詠大明湖晏公廟

長棲六尺水云深，湖畔高風何處尋。忠悼庸君懷死志，智除悍士寫奇聞。擢才出使不辱命，諫上愛民曾顧身？千古波光知未遠，粼粼無語對晨昏。

For ages, that slight figure has dwelt deep in lake mist;where along this shore can such nobility now be found?Loyal, he mourned a foolish ruler, ready to die;with wit he brought down fierce warriors, a tale still told.Chosen for his talent, he went abroad and did not fail his charge;advising his lord to cherish the people, did he ever spare himself?Across the ages, the light on the waves knows he is near;silent shimmer answers morning and evening.

鑑賞Appreciation
緊閉的廟門與石階綠苔，讓湖畔清晨多了一層歷史的靜意。詩不鋪陳晏嬰的生平，而以幾件往事勾出其氣節，再將人物放回水光與古木之間。眼前的寂寥與昔日的擔當相互映照，懷人之意由景物中自然生出。
Closed temple gates and moss on the steps give the lakeside morning a sense of historical distance. Rather than recount Yan Ying’s life in full, the poem recalls a few moments that suggest his character, then returns him to the light, water and trees of the present scene. The contrast between quiet surroundings and remembered public courage carries its feeling of homage.
